FLUIDS
Decalcification is the method by which calcium salts are removed
from ; tissue either by action of acids, by chelation or by electrolysis.
Formic Acid
Formic acid 90%
- 100ml
Distilled water -900nil
Nitric acid
Nitric acid -
l 50ml
Distilled water - 850ml
After decalcification is over, the tissue should be washed in
running tap water for several hours to remove the acid, which will affect
staining with haematoxylin and eosin.
EDTA Solution
EDTA (disodium salt) - 55gm
Formalin - 100ml
Distilled Water - 900ml
This is
used for less harder tissues like bone marrow.
